Neshannock corrects audit finding

NEW CASTLE — The Neshannock Township School Board has acted to correct a finding in the auditor general’s performance audit report.

The report covered fiscal years ending June 30, 2010, and June 30, 2009.

Because of an error in how the district had reported the presence of a foster child in the 2009-10 school year, the district was not properly reimbursed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The error was identified, corrected and the district has since been reimbursed.

At its meeting this week, the board also:

•Hired Martin Sipe as assistant transportation supervisor at $37,500, effective April 29.

•Approved the Lawrence County Career and Technical Center Budget for the 2013-14 school year. The district’s share is $284,811 for 22 regular students and seven special education students.

•Extended the district’s contract with the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV to secure funding for Title I (remedial math and reading) and title II-A to reduce class sizes.

•Approved Candace Fava as Lancerette adviser at $1,501.

•Approved medical leave for Debi Allebach from May 2 through June 7

•Accepted the resignation of National Honor Society advisor Cathy Bryan.

•Agreed to continue the district’s concurrent enrollment agreement with Westminster College for the 2013-14 school year.
