Intermediate unit hosting 5-K in Neshannock

NEW CASTLE — The Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV is hosting the second annual Let Me Win 5-K Run/Walk.

Runners and walkers of all ages may participate in the April 26 event at Neshannock High School’s John Thompson Memorial Trail, 3834 Mitchell Road.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the 3.1-mile race will start at 10. Faraone Brothers DJ Service will provide entertainment and there will be post-race refreshments.

All proceeds will benefit the Special Olympics of Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties.

Pre-registered participants will receive a T-shirt, but race day registrants are not guaranteed a shirt.

Prizes for age-group winners will be awarded at a post-race ceremony.

The event’s premier sponsor is Highmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Various local businesses are co-sponsors.

The cost for pre-registered adults is $20. For students in kindergarten through college, the pre-registration cost is $15. Children under age 5 chaperoned by adults are free. The pre-registration deadline is April 16.

Race day registration for all ages is $25.
