Neshannock hires three teachers

NEW CASTLE — The Neshannock school board hired three elementary teachers Thursday night.

Chelesa Piccirilli was approved as a full-time teacher, effective Aug. 23. She will be paid $43,913.

Michele Lockley was hired as a half-time teacher, also effective Aug. 23. Her salary will be $21,956.

Danielle Norge will be a long-term substitute for the 2012-13 school year. She is filling in for Sue Ellen Patton and will be paid $90 per day.

Prior to the meeting, one of the board members said the district had received about 450 applications for the jobs.

Also Thursday night, the board:

•Renewed insurance premiums with People’s Insurance for $70,459, with a worker’s comp premium not to exceed $53,000.

•Hired Nick Kliem and Dave Sarbo as full-time bus drivers and Leo Thompson as a substitute bus driver.

•Contracted with the Lawrence County Drug and Alcohol Commission for $8,372 to provide programs for the 2012-13 school year.

•Agreed to lease a driver’s training car from Preston Motors for $250 per month for the school year.

•Named Caitlyn Bleggi and Jackie Lyn Julian as elementary substitute teachers and Alan Dudash, David Hinckley and Susan Miller as emergency substitute teachers.

•Approved Amy Creese and John Panella as band volunteers.
