Mohawk High’s director and student actors always challenge themsevles when choosing a spring musical. They have never taken the easy road, or picked a simple musical, as past performances of “Ragtime” and “Les Miserables” would indicate. And this year is no exception.

On Sunday, the final curtain will descend on Mohawk High School’s performance of “Phantom of the Opera.” And with it will end the the stage career of one of Lawrence County’s premier high school drama directors.

Last week, the Bishop Canevin girls basketball team was Mohawk’s worst enemy. Last night, the Lady Crusaders were its best friend. The Lady Warriors clinched a PIAA Class AA playoff bid by virtue of Bishop Canevin’s 55-19 victory over Burrell in the WPIAL semifinals.
High School Diving: Mohawk junior wins gold medal
Mohawk High junior McKenzie Stelter is a WPIAL champion. Stelter won gold with a score of 419.85 at the WPIAL Class AA Diving Championships at South Park High School.
WPIAL Girls Playoffs: Mohawk hopes to take rematch with Canevin
Final Score — Bishop Canevin 63, Mohawk 27. That was the aftermath of the Mohawk High girls basketball team’s exit in the first round of the WPIAL Class AA playoffs a season ago.
