Two girls basketball teams are bidding for history tonight. Only one will reach elite status, though. The Mohawk and North East high school girls basketball teams will meet at 7 p.m. today at Meadville High in the second round of the PIAA Class AA playoffs.

The New Castle district will begin registering students for the Croton pre-kindergarten program on Monday, Tuesday and March 14. Mohawk kindergarten registration has been scheduled for district children who will be 5 years old before Sept. 1.

Mohawk High junior McKenzie Stelter is a WPIAL champion. Stelter won gold with a score of 419.85 at the WPIAL Class AA Diving Championships at South Park High School.
