Mohawk approves contract at special meeting

NEW CASTLE — Mohawk’s school board approved a contract to repair air conditioning at the elementary school.

School board members, meeting in a special session Monday, awarded the $88,390 pact to Central Heating and Plumbing, the lowest of three bids received.

Superintendent Kathleen Kwolek said the special session was needed because it will take six to eight weeks to gather all the parts needed for the project.

The board will meet at 8 p.m. Monday to vote on the district’s 2013-14 budget.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed “unprecedented” legislation yesterday to expand gun rights in his state. Good idea?

Yes. Expanding the scope of where people can carry guns can help halt violent crimes and make those places safer.
No. Carrying guns into bars and schools is NEVER a good idea. I think it will lead to more violence.
Not sure, but I don’t plan to visit Georgia any time soon.
