Organizers have announced that a disc golf world championship competition will be held in western Pennsylvania in 2015.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review says the Professional Disc Golf Association championships will be held July 25 through Aug. 1 in Allegheny and Butler counties.
Executive director Brian Graham said in a videotaped message Saturday that it was an exciting prospect that the organization would be “crowning another champion in the City of Champions.”
Event organizers said they expect about 400 participants and hope the event will generate about $1.5 million for the region.
Championship games will be played on disc golf courses in Knob Hill, Deer Lakes Park in Tarentum, Moraine State Park, Lakeview in Portersville and Slippery Rock University.
