And it was Madness.
Two games with local impact kept basketball fans at the edge of their seats on Saturday.
First, in PIAA action, the WPIAL champion New Castle High girls trailed much of the game, but pulled out a 43-42 victory over Mercyhurst Prep at Ambridge High.
Sensational sophomore Kaylynn Waters sealed the victory for the Lady �Canes with a game-winning bucket with just 5.7 seconds remaining.
On the college front, junior guard Steve McNees scored 15 points and nailed a huge three-pointer with just 6 seconds left to send the game into overtime, but the Akron men�s basketball team lost to Ohio University 81-75 in the title game of the Mid-American Conference tournament.
Ohio earned the conference�s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
Akron, meanwhile, fell to 24-10 and will likely receive a bid to play in the NIT.
