Take a photo with Santa!

Hey, Parents! Hey, Kids! Want to take a photo with Santa?  Then be sure to stop in at the New Castle News on Thursday, Nov. 15, just before the Light-Up Night Parade begins in the downtown.

Santa will be on hand to take a photo with all children — and kids at heart — from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

We’ll have lots more going on in our lobby as well, including coloring for kids, live entertainment and a chance to win a shopping gift card!

Photo Gallery: Hundreds come to town for annual Veterans Day Parade

NEW CASTLE — Hundreds turned out downtown on a sunny Saturday morning to salute local veterans.

The annual Veterans Day Parade, hosted by the Lawrence County Veterans Council, stepped off at 11 a.m., featuring marching bands, scout groups, firetrucks and, of course, veterans.

The parade marshal was Chuck Harvey, Veterans Council commander. The parade grand marshal was Rose Mary Sabo Brown.

Another parade will march through downtown New Castle on Thursday as part of Light-Up Night. Festivities are scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m., with the parade stepping off at 7.

    Tri-County CleanWays has started a new program to accept electronics for recycling year-round. In partnership with the Lawrence-Mercer Recycling/Solid Waste Department, the organization is offering one recycling site in New Castle and one in Mercer County, about a mile north of Mercer Borough to collect unwanted electronics.
