Red Cross offers classes in county

NEW CASTLE — The American Red Cross is offering health and safety preparedness courses during November to ensure local residents can respond to emergencies.

The Red Cross designs its courses to equip individuals with the necessary skills and training to respond in the event of an emergency. Red Cross CPR and first aid certifications are designed to enable individuals to provide prompt, appropriate responses to life threatening situations.

The following classes will be offered at the Red Cross office, 222 N. Mercer St.:

•Saturday — Adult CPR/AED, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; adult and pediatric first aid/CPR/AED, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

•Nov. 13 — Adult CPR/AED, 6 to 9:30 p.m.; adult and pediatric first aid/CPR/AED, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

•Nov. 13 and 14 — Adult and pediatric first aid/CPR/AED, 6 to 9:30 p.m. both days.

The charge for the sessions is $70 for adult CPR/AED and $110 for sessions that add pediatric first aid.

Businesses, organizations and community groups can register for private instruction from the Red Cross. To register for an individual class or private group instruction, interested participants can call (800) RED-CROSS or visit RedCross.org.
