Frankie Caffro’s Barber Shop is operating in downtown New Castle.

The shop — named for the owner and operator — is at 39 S. Jefferson St.

In addition to hair cuts for adults, Caffro’s shop also provides hair cuts for children.

Beard trims also are available at the shop.

Caffro said he decided to open his business in New Castle because, after owning and operating a full-service salon in Phoenix, Ariz., for four years, “I wanted to return to my hometown.”

He explained he chose to open a barber shop “because I saw a need for this service.”

Caffro added he located his shop in New Castle because he had “seen and likes the direction the city is moving in.”

A frozen yogurt shop is planning to open in Union Township.

The business — sweetFrog Premium Frozen Yogurt — will offer its self-serve, pay-by-the-ounce concept to the Walmart Plaza, with the opening scheduled in the next two weeks.

“sweetFrog is frozen yogurt your way. You determine what goes in your cup, so every creation is perfect,” said James Denison, a public relations associate for the company.

The store will offer more than 20 flavors and a toppings bar.

In addition, the company said, it will be actively involved in the community through fundraisers and Spirit Nights.

Since its 2009 founding in Richmond, Va., by Derek Cha and his wife, Annah, sweetFrog has expanded to more than 320 stores in America, England and the Caribbean.
