Council approves Back to the 50’s lease

NEW CASTLE — New Castle City Council has renewed a lease agreement with Back to the 50’s for the use of Cascade Park.

Under the agreement, Back to the 50’s will pay a $3,600 rental fee for use of the park from June 27 through June 30. It is the same rate as last year.

This year’s event will be one day shorter than previous years.

Although he said he believes the rent is too low — as he has said in previous years — Councilman William Panella voted in favor of the agreement Thursday.

Council also approved an agreement with Christopher Fabian to operate a concession stand at Gaston Park. He will be charged a total rental fee of $600 for March through August.

The lawmakers approved an agreement with John Dado to operate the pro shop at Sylvan Heights Golf Course. He will pay a rental fee of $75 per month from May through October.

  • No tax hike in Union school budget

    The Union Area School Board has introduced a $10.6 budget with no tax increase. If the $10,585,494 spending plan is approved, it will be the third year without a tax increase in the district. The property tax is at 14.42 mills.
