NEW CASTLE — First Choice Federal Credit Union is planning to build a satellite branch in Neshannock Township.

The Lawrence County Planning Commission yesterday reviewed the financial institution’s subdivision and land development plans. The commission cited deficiencies to be corrected and listed numerous technical recommendations. All must be addressed before approval.

The plans were referred to the township planning commission for review before ultimately going to the township supervisors for approval.

According to information from the county planning office, the building site is located on the northeast corner of Route 18 at Orchard Way. The property has 1 1/3 acres and plans are for a 1,200-square-foot building. The parking lot will have 11 parking spaces, including two designated for the handicapped.

The plans call for re-establishing about 6,400 square feet of wetlands that exist on the site. Moving the wetlands requires approval of the state Department of Environmental Protection.

The property straddles C-2 highway commercial and  R-1 residential urban zones.
