A hunter who fell from a tree was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Pulaski Township Fire Chief Guy Morse said he could not release the name of the victim but said the man was an archery hunter pursuing deer.
Morse said the man fell from a tree near Valley View Road about 8 p.m. Tuesday. The fall occurred as the hunter was climbing out of the tree, Morse explained.
He was three-quarters of a mile to a mile from the road, the chief said. If not for another hunter in the area, who called by cell phone, we might never have found him.
Morse said the caller was able to pinpoint the location for the fire department and ambulance crews.
We had to carry the hunter out of the woods, the chief said.
Morse urged other hunters to remember their cell phones when they go into the woods.
Cell phones played an instrumental part in locating the hunter.
Northwest Lawrence Regional Police Department would not release any information on the incident.
