A drunk driving arrest grew into a jail stay after a Hillsville woman allegedly attacked a state police officer.
Kellie Cae Straley, 39, of Bestview Avenue, was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault by District Judge Scott McGrath and lodged in the Lawrence County jail on $5,000 bond. She has since been released.
According to Pennsylvania state police, Straley was arrested about 3 a.m. Saturday on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol. They said she became combative and disorderly in the police vehicle as she was being transported from Jameson Hospital to the police station.
Upon entering the lobby of the state police station in Neshannock Township, officers said, she sat in a chair and refused to stand up and walk to the secure area of the station. When an officer assisted Straley to her feet, police said, she allegedly kneed the officer in the groin.
The officer, police said, was treated at Jameson Hospital then released.
