Three arrested in burglary spree

State police nabbed three males in an attempted burglary.

They also may have ended the trio’s suspected crime circuit.

Police arrested Scott Francis Swiecicki, 30, Joseph Paul McVay, 28, and Maurice Philo Hollins, 34, all of New Castle, after an attempted burglary Monday on Devil’s Elbow Road, Hickory Township.

According to police, an investigation revealed that the threesome allegedly had burglarized a home on Eastbrook-Neshannock Falls Road between 8:30 a.m. and noon Monday.

In addition, police determined the suspects were driving around Pulaski, Wilmington, Hickory and Scott townships earlier Monday morning looking for potential targets. Police said Swiecicki, McVay and Hollins would randomly stop at houses and knock on doors. If no one was home, they would attempt to gain entry.

All three were charged with two felony counts of burglary and criminal conspiracy, and two misdemeanors of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

They are in the Lawrence County jail on $25,000 bond each.

Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Aug. 5 before District Judge Scott A. McGrath.
