NEW CASTLE — A permanent marker will be unveiled in Harrisburg on Monday honoring Medal of Honor winner Leslie Sabo.

Sabo, an Ellwood City native, was killed in combat in Cambodia in 1970.

President Barack Obama presented Sabo’s survivors with his posthumous Medal of Honor earlier this year for bravery exhibited in battle. Sabo’s actions were credited with saving the lives of several of his fellow soldiers.

The unveiling of the permanent marker will occur at 11:45 a.m. Monday in Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Grove behind the state Capitol.

Rose Mary Sabo-Brown, his widow, and other family members will join state Rep. Jaret Gibbons for the ceremony.
