NEW CASTLE —
Long-term traffic restrictions on the bridge that carries Route 317 over Hickory Run in North Beaver Township have ended.
The bridge has been restricted to stop-and-go single-lane alternating-use traffic controlled by temporary signals since early 2011, while crews replaced the structure.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, some minor short-term restrictions will occur for the next few weeks while crews complete the project.
The $2.4 million project includes removing and replacing an existing 65-foot single-span multi-beam bridge with a new structure and replacing the deck on the other structure. The bridges are located near 13th Street in Bessemer Borough and West Pusnic Lane in North Beaver Township. The Russell Standard Corp. is the prime contractor.
