NEW CASTLE — About 15 masked protesters demonstrated on Kennedy Square downtown Tuesday afternoon.

“We are protesting probably everything,” spokesman Lou Regna said of his group, which is called “New Castle Change.” Some of their signs said “Support Our Troops” and “Save Humanity!”

They later walked to the Lawrence County Government Center, where they demonstrated outside. The protestors included Regna’s “real life” friends and some he said he has met over the Internet.

Regna noted his group, which has been active for the past three weeks, also has been making an effort to feed the local homeless and “show love” to them.

He said the group is for the “embetterment of all mankind through technological advances.” He added he is working on projects to provide food for more people through “gedeo-desic aquaponic grow chambers” in which fresh fish and food could be raised symbiotically year-round.

He said the group also opposes new Common Core Standards being adopted for schools across the nation, because there are no science standards until the sixth grade and the standards cause “dumbing down” of the material.

Regna and about 10 others conducted a similar protest in April, objecting to Internet-related legislation being considered in Congress, which they said was a threat to privacy and could undermine the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution.
