NEW CASTLE — The Union Township supervisors hired a new part-time police officer Monday.

Martin D. Ferrucci of Hillsville is expected to begin his duties with the township in about two weeks. He will be paid $14.24 per hour for the first six months.

Ferrucci, who is a part-time police officer with the Shenango Township department, is expected to resign that position.

The hiring brings the Union Township department to nine officers. This includes four full-time officers — one of whom is a school resource officer — and five part-timers.
