Spaghetti dinner to remember fallen soldier

NEW CASTLE — A spaghetti dinner in memory of the late Staff Sgt. Edward D. Mills Jr. will be held May 11.

Friends and family are holding the event that will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Union Township fire hall on Scotland Lane. Proceeds will benefit the SSG Edward D. Mills Jr. Scholarship fund, affiliated with the Community Foundation of Western Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Cost of the dinner is $10 per person. Children aged 3 or younger eat free.

Tickets are available at the door.

Mills, a 29-year-old native of Union Township, was one of six members of the 101st Airborne Ranger Pathfinders unit who died from injuries received while on foot patrol on May 26, 2011, in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.
