Ballot positions open for election boards

NEW CASTLE — The Lawrence County Board of Elections is looking for candidates to run for judges and inspectors of elections.

Elections director Ed Allison said 95 of the 237 available positions for judges and inspectors on the May primary ballot have no candidates.

Anyone interested in running for any of the positions can contact the elections office to find out where the vacancies exist. Allison said people who are interested would run as write-in candidates in the May 21 primary.

One judge and two inspectors are elected for each precinct.

Those elected will take office in 2014.
