Primary 2013: Township candidates file petitions

NEW CASTLE — Candidates for township offices in Lawrence County have filed nomination petitions for the May 21 primary.

Voters in each of 16 townships will elect one supervisor  to a six-year term.

In Perry Township, a supervisor also will be elected to a four-year term, and in Wilmington Township a supervisor also will be elected to a two-year term.

Tax collectors will be elected for four-year terms. All candidates who have filed for auditor are running for six-year terms.

Following are those who have filed petitions, according to the Lawrence County Board of Elections:

    New Castle’s Relay for Life will kick off at 7 p.m. May 31 on the track at Shenango High School’s Glen “Pop” Johnston Stadium. Relay for Life is an organized, overnight fundraising walk for the American Cancer Society.
