Laurel school board seeking member

NEW CASTLE — The Laurel School District is accepting applications from residents to fill a school board vacancy.

The deadline to submit applications is at 4 p.m. tomorrow at the district office at 2497 Harlansburg Road.

The vacancy was created by the death of David J. Smith Sr. earlier this month.

The board will interview candidates at a special meeting at 7 p.m. Monday. The board plans to fill the position immediately after the interviews.

The successful candidate will serve through the end of 2015.

Laurel school district comprises Hickory, Scott and Slippery Rock townships.
