County seeks grant for repairs

NEW CASTLE —

The Lawrence County commissioners are applying for a grant to help pay for repairs around the courthouse.
The county is seeking a $9,715 matching grant through the Pennsylvania Counties Risk Pool, which provides liability and property insurance coverage for counties.
James Gagliano, county administrator, said PCoRP as it is known, is offering counties a pool of money to pay up to $10,000 to reduce hazards and to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Gagliano said the county plans to replace approximately 150 feet of broken sidewalk and about 1,000 square feet of concrete in front of the courthouse.
The total project cost is approximately $19,000, he said. The county will cover the balance.
