Lawrence County Fair: Grange award goes to North Beaver man

NEW CASTLE — Grange officials gave John Kusnierczyk the Pomona Grange Community Service Award at the Lawrence County Fair.

Kusnierczyk, a retired North Beaver Township farmer, has served on the fair board for 49 years.

J.V. Lamb, a former district judge, presented the award Monday. He said Kusnierczyk has gone “over and above” to encourage grange activities and do things to benefit the community, adding he is at the fair every day “to make sure things get done.”

Kusnierczyk pointed out, “The main reason I’m here is for the kids.”

During his tenure, he said, he has seen “a lot of things happen and a lot of kids grow up.”

Kusnierczyk also has served on the Lawrence County Airport Authority and the North Beaver Township Planning Commission.

He worked the Cleland Mill Road farm he was born on until 1979 and drove a bus for the Mohawk school district for 23 years.

He had two daughters and two sons with his late wife, Gladys.
