Summer Blast: Your complete list of local fireworks displays

NEW CASTLE — With summer arriving tomorrow, can fireworks shows be far behind?

The answer is no.

The county’s first pyrotechnic display of the season will take place at this weekend’s Italian Festival at Cascade Park. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, featuring food, music, dancing, bocce and a fireworks display Sunday night.

Here is a list of other local events where fireworks will be featured.

•Ellwood City Arts, Crafts and Food Festival — The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. June 28, 29 and 30 in Ewing Park, featuring more than 200 arts and crafts booths as well as more than 30 food and beverage booths and entertainment. Admission is free. Fireworks will conclude the festival at 10:15 p.m. June 30.

•Independence Day Concert and Fireworks — 7:30 p.m. July 3, Westminster College near Brittan Lake. Music by the River City Brass Band, fireworks at 9 p.m. Free admission.

•Fourth of July Celebration — 2 to 10 p.m. July 4, Pearson Park. Free hot dogs, water and face painting 2 to 4 p.m.; ice cream and pie social, $4, with mustic by the Dorals and the Red Coat Band, 2 to 5 p.m.; DJ music 6 to 10 p.m.; fireworks at 10 p.m.

•Slovenefest — July 12-14, SNPJ Recreation Center, Enon Valley. Pageant, dancing, ethnic foods, food vendors, exhibits, live music, kids activities. Fireworks July 13, weather permitting. Admission $8 July 12, $10 July 13 and 14, or three-day pass for $25. Children 16 and under free.

•Fireworks Festival — 2 to 10 p.m. July 13, Columbus Innerbelt. Food, games, live entertainment, Ducky Derby, Rocket to the Stars finals. Fireworks at conclusion of evening.

•Enon Valley Community Day —  9 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 20, Enon Valley borough. Parade, art display, horse-drawn shuttle, historical displays and museums, children’s activities, music, entertainment, Civil War encampment, food, crafts and fireworks.

•Western PA BalloonQuest — July 25-28, Scotland Meadows Park. Nite Glow 9 p.m. July 25, balloon launches (weather permitting) 6 to 7 p.m. July 26 and 27 and 6 to 7 a.m. July 27 and 28. Amusements, live entertainment, tethered balloon rides, classic car and truck cruise, crafts, food, and fireworks

•Lake Arthur Regatta — Aug. 3 and 4, Moraine State Park South Shore. Water, air and land events with canoe and kayak races, children’s activities, car cruise, fishing tournament, swimming, fishing, puddleduck racers, food and craft vendors. Fireworks on final night.

•Boom and a Blast Fireworks Extravaganza — 8:30 p.m. Aug. 11, Cooper’s Lake Campground. Zambelli Fireworks of New Castle presents world class display.

•Lawrence County Fair — Aug. 12-17, Lawrence County Fairgrounds. Grandstand events, rides, games, food, entertainment. Fireworks on final night.

•Boom and a Blast Fireworks Extravaganza — 8:30 p.m. Aug. 13, Cooper’s Lake Campground. Fireworks by Nite Lites of Kentucky, Tour de Froce display of Pyrotechnic Rockets and Peter Rogoz’ selection of music and fireworks choreography.

•Boom and a Blast Fireworks Extravaganza — 8:30 p.m. Aug. 14, Cooper’s Lake Campground. Fireworks by Junior Pyrotecnics, Celebration Fireworks and PA Pyrotechnics Artists and Pyrotecnico.

•Boom and a Blast Fireworks Extravaganza — 8:30 p.m. Aug. 16, Cooper’s Lake Campground. Fireworks by Bixler Pyrotechnics and John Sagaria’s Fireworks Extravaganza.
