NEW CASTLE —
Attempted homicide and other charges against West Side teenager Lewis Brewer have been withdrawn.
District Judge Jennifer Nicholson signed the petition to withdraw charges offered by assistant district attorney Kate Fee-Baird, who said no witnesses or victims had appeared at the scheduled preliminary hearing yesterday morning.
Lewis, 15, of 509 W. North St. had been charged as an adult with attempted criminal homicide. He also faced charges of aggravated and simple assault, carrying firearms without a license, propelling a missile into an occupied vehicle, two counts of terroristic threats, five counts of recklessly endangering others and harassment.
The charges stem from an incident July 14 when Lewis allegedly fired shots at a vehicle and allegedly threatened to shoot another individual.
Lewis has been held in the Lawrence County jail on $100,000 bond since July 15. He was released yesterday.
The hearing, scheduled for last week, was continued when the witnesses and victims vanished prior to that hearing.
