Television: Shenango grad to appear on ‘Dr. Oz’

NEW CASTLE — Internal Medicine Specialists, a five-physician medical practice, is among Las Vegas’ most respected practices.

After today, though, it may become known for more than its quality of care.

That’s because partner-physician Dr. Thomas Alfreda Jr. — a New Castle native — will appear as one of the country’s most eligible and progressive doctors on the Dr. Oz television show. He’ll represent his practice, as well as Nevada, on the Valentine’s Day-themed show.

The episode, titled “The Most Eligible Doctors Reveal Their Best Health Secrets,” airs today at noon on WYTV, Youngstown; at 4 p.m. on WTAE-TV, Pittsburgh, and at 4 p.m. on WKBN-TV, Youngstown.

The show features 50 of America’s most eligible bachelor physicians who reveal their secrets to living healthier and longer.

“I was honored when they invited me,” Alfreda said, “and I’m eager to share the information with the audience as I do with my patients — prevention of disease and the treatment of the body, mind and spirit.”

Alfreda is a 1991 graduate of Shenango High School and studied at Touro University School of Medicine. He also has a master’s in business administration and helps to train medical students.

In addition, he is the medical director of Nathan Adelson Hospice, southern Nevada’s only nonprofit hospice offering exceptional end-of-life care.

Internal Medicine Specialists is an established internal medicine practice providing diagnostics and medical treatment for chronic health conditions like high blood pressure, obesity, heart disease and diabetes.
