Drug recycling offered Saturday

NEW CASTLE — People who want to get rid of unused and expired prescription drugs are being asked to recycle them safely.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, in cooperation with Lawrence County Recycling and Solid Waste, is sponsoring Drug Takeback Day Saturday.

Sites will be set up in Lawrence County for people to drop off unwanted medications. The drugs will be collected between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at these locations — all of which will be staffed by police.

•Ellwood City police department, rear entrance, 525 Lawrence Ave.

•Mahoning Township police department, 4512 W. State St., at the township community center in Hillsville.

•Neshannock Township police department, 3131 Mercer Road.

•State police station at 3539 Wilmington Road.

The second annual Fallen Warrior Ride is scheduled to leave Cascade Park at 6 p.m. Aug. 15 for a one-hour, circuitous route to Laurel High School. Once there, riders — led by the Patriot Honor Guard of Western Pennsylvania — will parade into the Lawrence County Fairgrounds, where they’ll join a Salute to the American Soldiers: For God and Country, a crusade by Vision Ministries of Lawrence County.
