Wilmington Area school administrators have received wage increases of about 2 percent for the current school year.
The raises, retroactive to the start of this year, were unanimously approved by the Wilmington Area School Board Monday.
The new salaries for this year are: middle school principal George Endrizzi, $90,632; high school principal Benjamin Fennick, $102,660; elementary principals Kenneth Jewell, $88,750, and Robert Kwiat, $90,600; special education supervisor Mary Anne Grubic, $90,160; and psychologist Michael O’Donovan, psychologist, $68,000, (effective first day reporting for work).
School psychologist Cynthia Wright, who has resigned effective April 14, 2014, will be paid $62,620.
The board agreed that all administrators who receive satisfactory evaluations will receive a $2,100 raise in the 2014-15 school year and another $2,100 raise in 2015-16.
The school psychologist’s salary will be $68,000 in 2014-15 and O’Donovan will receive a $2,100 increase in 2015-16, subject to a satisfactory evaluation.
The board authorized superintendent Dr. Michelle Miller to begin having specifications prepared for replacing the 10-year-old synthetic turf at the athletic stadium for safety reasons.
The cost is expected to be about $400,000. The members voted to pay $3,000 to Milo George of Professional Sports Field Services of McComb, Ohio, to help prepare the specifications. The work is to be done this summer so as not to impact any athletic teams.
The school board also approved the purchase of a BoardDocs LT system at $2,700 per year with a $1,000 start-up fee. The electronic board document management system is sold by a Marietta, Georgia company and will allow board members to receive their monthly agendas and related documents electronically through the school district’s website.
Passwords will control which parts of the website will be accessible to board, the staff and the public. Dr. Miller said the move will save 50 to 75 percent of the clerical time it takes to prepare documents for meetings.
The system is also intended to easily provide information to the public and provide the district with access to information from the 62 other school districts and Intermediate Units in Pennsylvania that use the system, and additional school systems across the country. The system is expected to be up and running in six to eight weeks.
The board also agreed to add five new high school courses for the 2014-15 academic year. They include a full year honors advanced accounting class and four half-year classes that are an introduction to business for 9th and 10th graders; sports and entertainment marketing, which replaces web design; computer programming and mobile application development.
