City ready to pick up leaves

NEW CASTLE — New Castle’s public works department is ready to begin picking up leaves.

City residents should put leaves in brown biodegradable bags and place them by the curb.

Plastic bags will not be accepted, public works director Michael Rooney said.

When residents put out the bags, they should call the public works department at (724) 656-3568 to have the leaves picked up.

  • Relay for Life set for next week

    New Castle’s Relay for Life will kick off at 7 p.m. May 31 on the track at Shenango High School’s Glen “Pop” Johnston Stadium. Relay for Life is an organized, overnight fundraising walk for the American Cancer Society.
