Offices to close for holiday

NEW CASTLE — Government offices, agencies and businesses will be closed for the New Year’s holiday. They include:

•New Castle city hall, which will close at noon Tuesday and will be closed Wednesday.

•The Ellwood City library, which will be close Wednesday; the Bessemer library, which will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday; and the New Castle library, which will close at 2 p.m. Tuesday and remain closed Wednesday.

•Lawrence County Community Action Partnership. The office will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. The Allied Coordinated Transportation Services vans will be running Tuesday.

•All Pennsylvania Department of Transportation driver license and photo centers, which will be closed Wednesday. Customers may still obtain a variety of driver and vehicle products and services online through PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website, www.dmv.state.pa.us.

•The New Castle News business office, which will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. However, the newspaper will be published both days.

    Area motorcyclists will be heading out once again this month to pay tribute to the nation’s soldiers and veterans. The second annual Fallen Warrior Ride is scheduled to leave Cascade Park at 6 p.m. Aug. 15 for a one-hour, circuitous route to Laurel High School. Once there, riders — led by the Patriot Honor Guard of Western Pennsylvania — will parade into the Lawrence County Fairgrounds, where they’ll join a Salute to the American Soldiers: For God and Country, a crusade by Vision Ministries of Lawrence County.

    The Little Caesars Love Kitchen rolled into the City Rescue Mission for a special delivery Wednesday. A pizza kitchen on wheels, the big rig travels across the United States and Canada to meet the needs of the hungry, the homeless and disaster survivors.
