NEW CASTLE — Lawrence County’s 19th annual POW-MIA recognition day is Friday.

The program — which will begin at 10 a.m. in the assembly room of the A.P. Gettings annex at the corner of Milton and County Line streets — is designed to honor and support the county’s prisoners of war and families of soldiers still missing in action.

Prisoners of war to be honored are the Rev. James George, Stanley Sisco and Cyril Vrabel. Gerald R. Glasser also will be honored as a serviceman missing in action in Korea.

Ruth Fairchild will be the speaker.

Music will be provided by Richard DeBlasio, the Union High School marching band, David Gettings and Edward Allison.

Tom Lane will serve as master of ceremonies and the invocation and benediction will be given by the Rev. William Schafer and the Rev. James George, respectively.
