North Beaver approves raises

NEW CASTLE — The North Beaver supervisors approved 2 percent raises for township employees for 2014.

The supervisors also got raises — for their work as roadmasters. The full-time roadmaster position, held by Supervisor Paul Henry, will pay $20.62 hourly. The part-time roadmaster position, held by Supervisor Amanda McBride, will pay $14.55 hourly. The supervisors’ roadmaster wages are set by township auditors and reflect a 2 percent increase.

Other township wages were set at the following rates:

•Road workers, full and part time — $16.28 to $20.62 hourly

•Secretary-treasurer, part time — $15.92 hourly

•Police chief, part-time — $18.88 hourly

•Patrolman, part-time — $18.09 hourly

•Clerical worker — $12.75 hourly

•Code enforcement officer — $611.86 per month, work done on an on-call basis.

Full-time township employees receive up to $1,100 per month toward health insurance. Full-time employees who opt out receive $2,500 per year.

The township solicitor will be paid $100 per hour.

Jerry Tillia was elected supervisor chairman and Henry, vice chairman for 2014.

The supervisors monthly meetings were changed to 3:45 p.m. the second Monday of the month and the planning commission meetings to 7 p.m. the first Monday. The municipal authority will continue to meet at 6 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month. All meetings are at the municipal building.
