NEW CASTLE —
The 22nd annual Lawrence County Polish Day took place on Sunday at the Cascade Park dance pavilion.
The event featured Polish foods prepared by Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, dancing to Lenny Gomulka & Chicago Push and The Boys, Polish beer and crafts and vendors.
Organizers also were accepting donations of cash or children’s items including toiletries, school supplies, scarves and mittens at the door to benefit Polish orphanages.
The event is sponsored by the American Polish Central Committee of Lawrence County. Proceeds benefit the annual scholarship fund. To date, $64,000 has been awarded to college-bound students from schools throughout Lawrence County. The 2012-13 scholarship winner was Justin McCreary, a Neshannock High graduate majoring in game art and design at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He is a son of Alan and Elaine McCreary.
The American Polish Central Committee promotes ethnic pride and education within the community.
