County planning changes OK’d

NEW CASTLE — Updates to the Lawrence County Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance drew no public comment prior to being adopted Tuesday.

Amy McKinney, director, and Allen Miller, assistant director, of the county planning department presented the updated plan.

McKinney said the changes have been available in the planning office and have drawn no negative comments.

The county commissioners adopted the updates after a public hearing. The amendments, which govern subdivisions and land development, included mostly minor changes, officials said.

The most significant change, McKinney noted, requires that land plans submitted by surveyors should be projected in North American Datum, which is a geodetic reference system.

If the surveyor does not have the technology to do this, he or she must include the longitudinal and latitudinal position of each marker with the drawing.
