Republicans set fall dinner

NEW CASTLE — The Lawrence County Republican Committee will have its annual fall dinner at 7 p.m. Friday at Gallo’s Italian Villa.

U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, who represents the 3rd Congressional District, will be the guest speaker. The district includes the majority of Lawrence County.

A social hour from 6 to 7 p.m. will precede the dinner.

Others who will attend include state Sens. Bob Robbins and Elder Vogel of the 50th and 47th State Senate Districts, respectively; state Rep. Michele Brooks of the 17th District; and Jason Murtha and Michael See, candidates for the 9th and 10th State House Districts, respectively.

Special music will be provided by Lawrence County Controller David Gettings.

Tickets are available by calling county Republican chairman William Schafer at (724) 654-5420.

    Tri-County CleanWays has started a new program to accept electronics for recycling year-round. In partnership with the Lawrence-Mercer Recycling/Solid Waste Department, the organization is offering one recycling site in New Castle and one in Mercer County, about a mile north of Mercer Borough to collect unwanted electronics.

The measure, approved by the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, would allow the Department of Agriculture to issue a single, statewide license to the owner of a mobile retail food facility.
