Home invasion robber sentenced

New Castle News

Tiffany Taylor, convicted in a Union Township home invasion, has been sentenced to 14 to 30 years in state prison.

The 30-year-old New Castle woman will serve her time in the Muncy State Correctional Institution in Lycoming County.

She is ordered to pay costs of prosecution and probation supervision, to provide a DNA sample, to pay restitution of $10,000 to one of her victims and to forfeit evidence seized.

Lawrence County Judge Thomas M. Piccione, who imposed the sentence, ordered that Taylor be credited for 373 days that she already served in jail.

Piccione noted that her sentence is to be served consecutively with any sentence Taylor is now serving.

A jury on Aug. 28 found Taylor of 4 St. Charles Place guilty of 14 counts of robbery, two counts of aggravated assault involving a deadly weapon, 14 counts of theft, 14 counts of recklessly endangering another person and 14 counts of receiving stolen property.

Police allege Taylor and two men participated in a home invasion and robbery at Rear 1607 W. Washington St., on July 18, 2008.

Guests at the house, who were age 17 to 25, said two armed men and a woman carrying a two-by-four burst into the house and demanded everyone there to give up their cell phones, jewelry and money and to remove their clothing.

Accomplice Calvin Waters Jr., 29, of 345 Halco Drive, pleaded guilty to intimidation of witnesses. On Sept. 8, he was sentenced by Piccione to serve nine to 18 months in the Lawrence County jail, with credit for 358 days already served. As a condition of his parole, Waters is to have no contact with the victims. He is also required to provide a DNA sample, and to pay costs of prosecution and supervision.

The other accomplice, Devon Carmen, 28, of 519 Highland Ave., pleaded guilty to robbery. His sentencing is set for Dec. 8.
