Woman struck by car


New Castle News

A woman is in stable condition at Ellwood City Hospital after being hit by a car Thursday night.

Ellwood City police said 76-year-old Jean Taylor of 630 Crescent Ave. was crossing at the intersection of Fourth Street and Fountain Avenue around 6 p.m. when she was struck by a car driven by Donald Lee Caldwell, 27, of Mercer.

Police said Caldwell reportedly failed to see Taylor.
