Injured policeman still critical

— New Castle police officer Robert Lepore remains in critical condition Tuesday in a Pittsburgh hospital.
Lepore, 44, was involved in a one-vehicle accident at 8:15 p.m. Sunday on Atlantic Avenue. He was off duty at the time and driving a private vehicle.
State police investigating the crash said Lepore’s sport utility vehicle struck a utility pole, then a tree. He was taken by helicopter to Presbyterian Hospital.
Police said the accident is still under investigation.
