Three teens charged after shooting

New Castle News

Two 17-year-olds are being charged as adults after allegedly participating in a shooting in Ellwood City.

Brian Keith Misner of 404 Loop St., Ellwood City, and Cory Jevon Seals of 1014 W. Washington St., both 17, and Michael Hunter, 23, also of 404 Loop St., were arraigned by District Judge Melissa Amodie.

Misner was arraigned on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy to aggravated assault, carrying a concealed firearm without a license and recklessly endangering another. He was committed to the Lawrence County jail on $100,000 bond.

Seals was charged with criminal conspiracy to aggravated assault and carrying prohibited offensive weapons, brass knuckles.

Hunter was charged with criminal conspiracy to aggravated assault and criminal trespass.

Both Seals and Hunter were lodged in the Lawrence County jail on $10,000 bond. Hunter has since posted bail.

Preliminary hearings for all three are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Lawrence County Central Court.

Ellwood City police were called to a fight in the 400 block of Loop Street about 1:45 p.m. Friday. They were advised that the caller had been heard gunshots in the Walnut Ridge area.

Police found a 25-year-old man who told police he had been shot at but not hit.

The victim told police that as he drove past 404 Loop St. in the public housing neighborhood he was approached by three men. Police said the victim told them one of the men, Hunter, had been harassing him. Police said the victim told them that Seals, who was with Hunter, approached him with a set of brass knuckles.

Police were told Misner allegedly approached the victim and stated he was going to shoot him.

The victim told police Misner had grabbed him by the shirt and attempted to punch him in the head. He told police he was able to get away but saw Misner pull out a handgun and point it at him.

Police said the victim told them he retreated to his car but Misner walked up to the passenger side and shot one round into the vehicle. He told police the bullet was lodged in the driver’s side door. Police said the bullet struck the steering column and lodged in the driver’s side door.

A witness told police that as he talked to the victim, in the 400 block of Loop Street, three men approached and tried to assault him. The witness said he tried to break up the fight. He told police the victim tried to get into his car and leave but one of the three allegedly fired a shot into the car.

Police said they apprehended Hunter and Seals at 404 Loop St. but Misner fled.
