June 13, 2009 12:20 am

Traffic on Route 224 in Mahoning Township will be reduced to a single lane Thursday and again Monday, weather permitting.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the lane closure will occur in the area of the bridge over railroad tracks a quarter-mile west of Jackson Street near Edinburg until 4 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday.
Crews will be making bridge improvements, including deck repairs and curbing. Work also is occurring under the bridge with no impacts to traffic. The improvements are expected to be completed by Tuesday.
The project is included in a $1.5 million contract with Allison Park Contractors Inc. for improvements on several bridges in PennDOT District 11, which includes Lawrence County.
Motorists are advised to use caution and allow extra time when traveling through the area.
