A New Castle man was seriously injured and woman killed Saturday in a Beaver County motorcycle crash.

State police said that Troy Gower, 38, of New Castle was eastbound on Taggert Road in Darlington Township about 11:30 p.m. when he lost control of his Yamaha motorcycle and left the road. Both he and his passenger, 46-year-old Martha Clyde Nye of Fombell, were thrown from the bike.

Nye suffered a head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a helmet.

Gower was flown by helicopter to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, where he was listed Monday morning in critical condition.
