A Kittanning woman is in the Lawrence County jail on drug charges after allegedly fleeing a hit-and-run accident.

Amanda Lee Miller, 26, of Kittanning, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, causing damage to an attended vehicle driving while under suspension and other traffic offenses. She is being held on $15,000 bond. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday in Central Court.

Brandon J. Rishel, 25, of Savannah Gardner Road told New Castle police his van, owned by RID Security of Savannah Road, was hit by a Pontiac Grand AM at Crawford and Croton avenues at 9:15 a.m. Thursday. The car then fled.

Rishel said he followed the car for as long as he could but his vehicle became disabled as he turned from Crawford Avenue onto Countyline Street.

New Castle police were informed that at 11:35 p.m., state police stopped a 1997 Pontiac Grand AM, driven by Miller, as she pulled from the Sheetz parking lot on Route 422 at Route 388. Police said Miller was seen throwing a bag of pills from the vehicle.

She was taken into custody and turned over to New Castle Police Department. Police said her vehicle was towed.
