Ellwood City Mayor Don Clyde is in Jameson Hospital after suffering a heart attack.
According to Tony Court, borough council president, Clyde’s doctor, who is on staff at the New Castle hospital, said the 76-year-old mayor suffered a mild heart attack.
Ellwood borough manager Dom Viccari said that in the absence of the mayor, the council president — in this case, Court — serves as acting mayor.
Court, 50, is in his first term as a councilman. He is vice president of Signature One Mortgage.
Clyde, who is retired, is a former councilman. He was elected in 2005 to a four-year term as mayor.
