An East Lincoln Avenue man reported items had been taken from his property over three successive days this week.
A resident of the 300 block, he told New Castle police his lawnmower had been taken from his yard Monday. On Tuesday, he said, someone entered his house and took his VCR.
The most damage was done Wednesday. The man said someone entered his house before 3:30 p.m. and tried to take the copper pipe from his basement.
The would-be thief could not pull the pipes apart, he said, but caused enough damage to enable water to leak from the split pipe and damage items in his basement.
