NEW CASTLE —
Next week is the long-anticipated Big Band dance at Cascade Park featuring the 20-piece Don Burns Orchestra.
The Cascade Park Big Band Dance committee is reminding dancers and music lovers alike of the special event from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday.
When the season began, Dee Venturi touted snagging the Ohio group and its first-time playing the famed open-air dance hall.
“We’re thrilled to have them,” Venturi says. “They play the Glenn Miller sound.”
She’d hate to have anyone miss them, especially with all the things going on that holiday weekend.
Because it’s a special night, the dance committee is providing free refreshments, along with the free coffee, water and ice available at every dance.
The Don Burns Orchestra comes with a slightly higher cost and tickets are available at the door, Venturi notes.
For those keeping tally on their dance card, remaining dances for the season are: Sept. 10, Jim Frank; Sept. 16, The Dorals; Sept. 23, Jack Vasko; and Oct. 1, Merriman Trio.
