Editor, The News: In the weekend edition of The News, an article, “Bill aims to bar public use of swaps” was published that highlighted the New Castle school district. New Castle was the only school district in Lawrence County to engage in credit swaptions.
A serious concern seen with some city students
Editor, The News: “Our students and parents — burden, dysfunctional, waste? Is he serious?” (Quote from George Gabriel’s letter of April 30).
New Castle negativity is justified by events
Editor, The News: In a recent news article, a group that is trying to promote the city states it doesn’t understand why so many people have a negative attitude about New Castle.

Editor, The News: The Lawrence County Animal Relief Fund is again offering its low-cost spay and neuter program for cats only, through November.
New laws won’t prevent criminal acts with guns
Editor, The News: I disagree with the logic that new legislation is going to stop gun crime among citizens who are criminals.
Emergency school calls show lack of foresight
Editor, The News: On April 30, we had the horrible experience of being alerted by phone that our daughter, a student at George Washington, was one of 700 students relocated to tennis courts because of a gas line break and could be picked up there.
