NEW CASTLE —
Editor, The News:
Today, instead of discussing some topic, I would like to focus on others.
Are people satisfied with their lives, where they are, how they feel about themselves, or are they wondering if they’ve reached the expectations they had for their futures?
I grew up in a Christian home, went to church, said my prayers every night and tried to follow the Ten Commandments the best I could. But, as a teen, I took a sharp turn in my life and got off the path I had been walking.
I quit doing all the right things. Why did I need God? Oh, I was single, had a good job, money, a car and lots of fun and I constantly kept busy.
Then, over 30 years ago, I asked myself the very same question I posed and the answer was, no. There was this emptiness inside also, a sort of yearning for something I wasn’t sure was missing and even worse, I felt tormented.
One night, I called out, “God, all I want is peace in my life.” I then went to sleep and the next morning, I woke up and felt at total peace. Everything went smoothly at work that day and later that night I reviewed what had happened and realized that God had answered my plea.
The Scriptures say that God will not despise a broken and contrite heart and that was my condition.
Now, after studying the Scriptures for over 30 years, I realize that He is a “God of second chances.”
Would people like a second chance for their lives? They can return to Him and He will return to them. Then, they can go to His only Son, have their slate wiped clean and start their lives over again.
